Thought
From Sushil's Comm Skills text book, section entitled How to ace your interview: "Display a genuine smile on your face."
I'm not even going to begin to talk about the use of the word "display" and the phrase "on your face". But I did start thinking about 'genuine' smiles. I didn't know there could be artificial ones. Like, artificial flowers aren't really flowers, right. But smiles can't NOT be smiles. You're moving those lip and cheek muscles and all. But then I realised there are artificial smiles.
It's when you're not really smiling, but you type a smiley-face into your MSN conversation or your e-mail.
